Today in this “Best of” series, I am sharing my best brand photography sessions! This year, I knew I wanted to work with other creatives as their go-to brand photographer. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure what to call it, but slowly throughout the year, it became known as Brand Photography. It’s really scary, starting an entirely new branch of your business after spending years building a wedding brand, but this year, I took the leap into this world of brand photography because there are so many people and brands I knew deserved to be celebrated with beautiful imagery and story.
I suppose it was almost two years ago (maybe more) that I shot my first brand session for my very talented friend Kathianna . She is an artist and designer, and we spent the day roaming the streets of Brooklyn and NY capturing the bold personality that Rousseau Studios was going to come to be known for. To date, this is one of my favorite shoots because I told her brand identity through a story. I was able to document her doing what she is most passionate about, and showcase her heart , ambition and intention through her brand story. At the time, I didn’t even know what to call our session. Brand Promotion? Passion Portraits? Lifestyle Photography?
Now that I’ve gone through the branding process for my own company, I understand that branding is so much more about the logo and the colors and your font choice. It’s about the identity and the heartbeat of the company. It’s about telling why you do what you do, how you do it, and who you do it for.
Fast forward two years and I’ve come to realize that what I now call brand photography is what makes my heart beat a little faster. Working with ambitious boss ladies to celebrate their creative process and lifestyle sets my heart on fire. This year I got to work with so many creative women and I know this is just the beginning of my journey into brand photography. I loved telling the stories of each and every one of these women and I can’t wait to see what their futures hold for their businesses! I urge you to check out their sites linked below to see the incredible work they create. They are changing lives with their businesses and I’m so excited I got to be a small part in making their brand visions come to life.
I can’t wait to meet more dreamers, doers, makers and world shakers this year. I hope you come alongside me on this journey to celebrate the legacies these creative entrepreneurs are building.
