Kiren and Micah’s summer engagement session at Red Maple Vineyard is probbbably my favorite session out of the 3 we’ve done so far! If you’ve been following along, this is actually Kiren and Micah’s third engagement session! We’re doing a session in every season and I am just so in love with this idea!
Kiren and Micah’s winter engagement session was in my backyard in a tiny little patch of snow and their spring engagement session was at Willowwood Arboretum. This time, we opted for a picnic where they are having their wedding at Red Maple Vineyard!
I’ve gotta say, I’ve been to at least 60 venues at this point, and no place gave me the feeling that Red Maple Vineyard did. When I pulled up, Kiren and Micah were waiting in the driveway and Kiren ran out to my car and said she just stopped crying because she was just so in love and so excited to be getting married here.
Before we started shooting, Kiren and Micah took me around the property. Every square inch of the venue is gorgeous. From the sweeping views of the mountains and valley at the top of the ceremony spot, to the historic house, to the vineyards filled with grapes and secret gardens, all the way down to the firepit area nestled in the remains of a stone building and the tented reception area.
I was like a kid in Disney and almost started crying myself. IT’S THAT GOOD. The owner pulled up during the session on a golf cart and even offered us to have a glass of wine or some water at the bar afterwards. The entire venue is farm to table and either grown locally on the property or sourced from local farms in the Hudson Valley area. I just absolutely love that and love that it’s family owned! Just from the quick tour and roaming around for their engagement session, I can already say I’ve probably never been more excited to shoot at a wedding venue!
We started the session picnicking in the secret garden within the vineyard while the sun was still higher in the sky. It gave us the most beautiful glow! Kiren and Micah brought wine and books and sat on a blanket enjoying each other’s company as I peeked around and shot through the flowers.
From there we walked up to the ceremony location which overlooks the valley and it was so jaw dropping! The views are spectacular and they even made a wood arbor where couples wed under. It’s beautiful! After that, we went down for them to switch outfits and then went across the street to the swing and another vineyard. I’m going to repeat that. A SWING AND ANOTHER VINEYARD. Man- this place is great.
After strolling through the vines, we went back towards the house to take pictures in the stone remains around the firepit and finished up in the herb gardens. The sun had set at this point but I just couldn’t stop — everything was so beautiful! I’m going to have so many spots to shoot on the wedding day I can’t even imagine!! I’m so excited!!!
The session was SO full of love laughter and smiles. Honestly these two were giddy and holding hands like kids on a playground the whole time, and I am so THRILLED that I get to photograph them not once, not twice, not three, but FIVE TIMES!
Kiren and Micah, I cannot wait until our next and final engagement session, and I seriously cannot wait for your wedding at Red Maple Vineyard in June. I have so much fun with you two every time and I am honored to document your beautiful love story.
