They were maybe 3 years old when they met on a ski trip. It could have been NJ, or maybe even at Whiteface (which you can see in the background!) Either way, their love formed like new fallen snow….
“It’s like watching a snowstorm. You see the flakes falling, but you don’t realize how they’re adding up. Then suddenly, your whole lawn is covered. All these little things have added up, and you’re my snowstorm.” This is their love story.
To say this year has been a blessing and an absolute blast would be an understatement. I’ve worked with dozens of incredible couples this year and gotten to shoot in so many amazing places. Carolyn and Stevie’s wedding was no exception. I had been looking forward to Carolyn and Stevie’s Lake Placid Winter Wedding for over a year now. When Carolyn first asked me if I would travel up to Lake Placid for their wedding I couldn’t contain my excitement, (jumping up and down probably ensued). Although I think we were all hoping for snow cover on the ground, being 50 degrees and sunny in the middle of December had to be the next best thing we could hope for since any chance of Winter was already out the window! I was incredibly happy and lucky to have my wonderful boyfriend second shooting with me which always makes the wedding day a million times more fun than it already is.
You may remember this couple from their super personal, awesome engagement session at Hidden Valley Ski Resort (Now called National Winter Activity Center) If you missed it, check it out here! She’s definitely the first bride to be I’ve had climb a ladder in stilettos. Together they are adventurous, outdoorsy, down to earth, and laid back, just the type of people I dream of working with! Their wedding day was an absolute blast. From the weather, to the outdoor ceremony on boathouse under twinkle lights to the non-stop party at Generations at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid, we had so much fun being there, documenting it, and being a part of their story.
The details were beautiful winter colors of deep reds, pinks, and grey. The bouquets were full of berries and pinecones and I loved that! The stationary was so personal and their save the dates were a ski ticket which was SO clever!
Check out that GORGEOUS ring!
I’m always happy when I get to photograph Badgley Mishka Wedding shoes. Swoon!
She was GORGEOUS in this Maggie Soterro Gown.
I loved the flannel the girls wore for the prep! So cute and casual!
The guys had quite the view to get ready!
Mirror Lake, in Lake Placid, NY. I love this place so much!
The first look happened out on Mirror Lake on the docks at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort where the whole wedding was held. Carolyn surprised Stevie with new skis and to say he was shocked, surprised, excited and seriously happy wouldn’t begin to cut it! I can’t even get over these views! If I could shoot here every weekend I’d be one happy photographer. We went right into portraits and I am just swooning over how good these two looked! Carolyn was absolutely stunning in her Maggie Sottero Bridal gown!
SKIS!!
I could definitely get used to shooting up here.
Friends and Family joined us on the docks for formals and I have to commend everyone for sticking it out with us during the cold! You’re all troopers!
The lake was so unbelieably smooth and the sky was spectacular!
As you can see, we had an AWESOME sunset!
The ceremony was held on top of Golden Arrow’s boathouse under candles, lanterns and twinkle lights. It was such a beautiful and peaceful view of the lake from up there!
The reception was held at Generations, the restaurant in the Golden Arrow. This has always been on my Lake Placid bucket list so it was pretty awesome to finally go! Scott and I had so much fun being a part of the party, we didn’t want the night to end!…..So it didn’t! We joined the wedding all night into the wee hours of the morning for what is sure to go down as one epic party.
Carolyn and Stevie, Scott and I are so honored to have been able to document these memories for you. We’re so excited to have your friendship, and can’t wait to see you again soon! We wish you so much love and happiness with a lifetime full of adventure. Cheers!
Thanks to these amazing vendors for pulling off such an incredible day!!
