College romances are amazing if you ask me. When you meet, you’re usually still a little carefree, living life to the fullest, and then upon graduation, real life begins and you get to grow with each other through so many new things in life. From graduating, to getting your first real jobs, to relocating to a new city, finding a new apartment… Erica and Daniel got to experience all of this together after graduating from Elon University in North Carolina.
After graduation, they ended up in NYC. Dan in finance, and Erica practicing as a Pediatric Physical Therapist. Which brings me to my main point: Erica is one of the most kind hearted and compassionate people you may ever meet. Early in their relationship, they endured a lot of things that two young people should never have to go through. No doubt a true test on their relationship, which was still so new at the time. They came out stronger than ever, and healthy. Erica radiates joy, and compassion, and it’s a no brainer than her and Daniel just fit together.
Erica was nervous all morning. (Actually, all week!) and as soon as her and Daniel shared their first look, the tears started to fall. They cried, embraced, and you could literally feel the emotions happening between them. After they were ready to take portraits, we wandered around the house, and the wind was so strong that Erica’s veil was blowing around like a tornado! It was insane! It was blowing straight up and spiraling around in circles above her head and then would curl itself up and land on her head. It was so funny! I love the portraits from this section of the day, but I’m so glad they chose to take more at golden hour!!
After their portrait set, we went to the church for their ceremony. The church was BREATHTAKING and this is where Erica went to high school. She got out of the car with her dad, walked down the aisle and suddenly the world seemed to slow down. These are the moments I love. When everything gets quiet. When all focus is on the bride and her dad as he gives her to the man of her dreams. They had a full mass, and after the ceremony greeted all their guests in a receeving line.
We went right back to the venue after that and as soon as we pulled in it started to downpour!!! I was so nervous because we still had to take alllll the wedding party and family pictures and more portraits and ideally, I didn’t want to shoot inside for these!! I took the umbrellas out of my car, but then suddenly the rain stopped! And it was so humid that everything dried up almost instantly!! The grass, the patio, everything. And then, as if that wasn’t lucky enough, a double rainbow appeared in the sky!! No doubt a testament to Daniel’s irish heritage!!
We took wedding party and family pictures overlooking the golf course and then took portraits down on the bridge and on the course. The light was so beautiful and you could tell both of them were feeling so much more comfortable now that the ceremony was over!! I love the portraits from this part of the day!!
When it was time for the reception, we ran up to the ballroom to get detail shots and then the party got started with Affinity NYC.
From beginning to end, every detail was carefully planned out and beautiful. There was so much love surrounding these two and I’m so excited that I got to be a part of it!
Erica and Dan, I’m thrilled for you both that you have found your soulmate and adventure buddy in each other, and I know you have a lifetime of joy, love, happiness and laughter ahead of you. You’re surrounded by so many people who love you and I am so happy I got to document these special memories. Thank you for allowing me into your lives!!
