Ooooo I love me a great wedding proposal shoot! Aakash had reached out to me back in June about photographing his proposal, to his now fiance, Laura on June 26. The original plan was to go skydiving at Skydive Sussex, and propose when they landed in the field. However, due to a cloudy day, they weren’t able to go up and dive, so we had to go with our plan C! (We had a plan B rain plan, and a plan C cloud plan!)
Now for the proposal story!
Plan C was to meet at Clearview Vineyards in Warwick, NY when they opened at noon. At the top of the vineyard is a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and forests – you can see 15 miles from up there! There’s a cute little adirondack swing up there, and it’s a place the owner encourages many visitors to go up and experience.
I got there first so I could head up to the spot without being noticed by his fiance. When they arrived, they started out the hike up to the top, but ended up going the wrong way and getting lost!! By the time they actually got up there, it was starting to drizzle, but we weren’t letting a little rain halt our plans!
Since there wasn’t anywhere for me to hide, I had to act like Scott, my husband, was down getting us wine in the main building and I wa just a regular ol’ patron.
A few minutes in, Laura asked me if I could take a picture of them on their phone. I did, and then sat back down. Aakash was starting to get really nervous, and asked Laura to stand up to take the view in with him. It was then that he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She cried! I cried! Their dog Rico was in the photo, and it was perfect!!! Following the “YES!!!” we popped champagne, and took some photos in the lower vineyard which I absolutely LOVE!
