I can never say enough about how much I LOVE brand sessions!! Each one of them is so unique and I absolutely love getting to tell a story through my photographs that represents the talent and hard work that goes into these businesses! Buki’s business, Beauty and Her Muse, was perfect for just that reason! She loves her business to death and works SO hard on doing what she loves! I’m sooo excited to share these because you can tell just how talented Buki is, the fun we had and how much her hard work is paying off!
Buki is not only a makeup artist for special occasions like weddings, galas and photoshoots, she also teaches skin care and make up lessons!! She is a girl after my own heart! The ability to teach others your craft is something so special and I was so excited when I found out that Buki does that as well! Buki got into the makeup world when she started selling makeup in college and loved connecting with other women and explaining how each beauty product really worked. From there, she learned how to professionally apply makeup to others and went to skincare school as well! This girl knows everything you can imagine about skin care and beauty products!
Buki’s session started with a drive to Bri Johnson’s Studio in Jersey City and omg the light was just perfect! While Buki was setting up her makeup and getting her model prepped I shot flatlays which were SOOOOO much fun! There were so many different details to use – I couldn’t stop smiling while doing these! Knowing one of Buki’s goals is to launch her own skin care line soon was so exciting to think about while I was shooting products, I’m so excited for her! With us was Buki’s friend Shay who was the model and omg she was gorgeous! She wore a pink silk robe while she was getting her make-up done by Buki which was so pretty! These girls were SO fun to work with, I didn’t have to pose them at all and they were all smiles all day long!
Buki’s makeup was of course stunning but when she finished doing Shay’s makeup oh my goodness, it was amazing!! While she was working you could tell Buki truly loves what she does. Shay’s makeup turned out so natural and stunning! Buki loves a glam look but more importantly wants women to feel empowered in their own skin! She really just amplified Shay’s natural beauty which would give any woman the confidence to take on the day!
After she finished doing Shay’s makeup, we moved on to do Buki’s headshots! To start off, she had a shirt on that had her logo and slogan on it. The front of her shirt read, “Beauty and her muse” and “Redefining Beauty..Uniquely you!!!” on the back! Buki was a natural at posing, I even asked her if she ever modeled! We took the headshots on a simple, white wall and they came out stunnnninggg! After some posed shots, we put on some Beyonce to jaaamm! We had a little dance party and OMG those pictures came out so cute! They reflected her personality so well and I loved seeing her so comfortable and letting her personality shine!
After our jam session we did some consultation shots on the couch and she changed into a gorgeous all black outfit! Bukie wore a really stylish hat and wheeled around her makeup suitcase for when she meets clients and these all came out sooo perfect! Her next outfit was an orange jumpsuit that looked AMAZING on her!! Buki was such a natural! All the pictures we took of her working on her laptop and on her instagram came out so perfect I barely had to pose her!
I can’t say enough about Buki and her business, Beauty and Her Muse! Her work is timeless and elegant and truly reflects her mission to uniquely make each woman feel their absolute best in their skin! Hanging out with Buki was a blast, it was like hanging out with an old girlfriend she was so fun to be around! This was such a fun session, the light was perfect, the details were amazing and she was just so much fun to work with!!!!
