Hi! I'm Laura!

I’m a wedding and brand photographer for creative and adventurous hearts and and your resident work-life balance aficionado. I’m so glad you’re here!
My favorite thing in life is sitting out by my fire-pit with a glass of Riesling and a s’more in hand with friends and family surrounding me. I'm rarely ever found without a warm blanket wrapped around me, and If my wallet didn't frown upon it, I’d probably buy everything in Anthropologie Home and Free People.

Oh! This engagement session is so sweet! Not only because Caroline and Jason are absolutely in love, and so genuine and down to earth, but because we did it in locations that are truly special to them! We started their engagement session at TCNJ, where they met when they were sophomores in college.  On move-in day, Caroline was having trouble setting up her computer and Jason (who lived two doors down from her) offered to help. Caroline said he was so sweet for not only offering to help but when he realized he couldn’t fix it, he asked his roommate to give it a go! Even though they had JUST met, he showed his super caring side and wanted Caroline to be taken care of no matter what.

Just from our short time together, I can see this being a pattern in their relationship.  The more we talked over dinner, they more I fell in love with the two of them as a couple.

Caroline said she can’t quite remember what their first date was but one of their earliest memories of each other is when Jason spent Easter with Caroline’s family. He met her dad, brother, and grandma for the first time and Caroline just remembers constantly laughing. Her grandma put on Easter bunny ears and started singing “Here Comes Peter Cottontail.” As Caroline puts it – the best part of all of this – Jason is Jewish!

About six years into their relationship, growing together through college and finding jobs in the real world, they both knew that a marriage was in their future.  Caroline was getting questions from friends and family when it would happen, but of course, this isn’t up to the girl! But Jason? He had quite the plan up his sleeves! Since I don’t think I could tell this any better than they could, let me share with you what they shared with me.

The Proposal

“While on vacation at Sandals Grenada, Jason planned a surprise candlelit dinner on the beach for us. He selected our appetizer, entree, dessert, and wine. As we were finishing our appetizer, a guitar player came up to our table and asked if she could sing a few songs for us. She had such a beautiful voice! When she started singing “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, I knew Jason was going to propose. I started crying and Jason came over and grabbed my hand. We danced to “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran and then Jason dropped down on his knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring! I was so surprised by all the details he planned and how he managed to travel with a ring without me knowing. Jason is so bad at keeping secrets! He even hired a photographer to capture the night.”

When they retold me this story over dinner after their session, I couldn’t help but smile ear to ear the whole time. I can’t imagine what Caroline felt in that moment. I imagine it being pure bliss! She said she couldn’t even finish her dinner because of all the excitement since he did it during the salad course! Ha! I don’t think I’d be able to either, Caroline!

Today, they love to go to wineries and breweries, travel, relax with family and friends, go to the beach, watch documentaries, play squash at the gym, cook, go to concerts, and just generally spend time together outside of their crazy work schedules. We ended the session at Hopewell Valley Vineyards where they shared their first Valentine’s Day together and I just love that all of this tied into their story. We had so much fun taking pictures under the patio lights, in the cellar, and then enjoying some wine and pizza afterward!

Caroline and Jason,  I know I said this after our session, but thank you both for making my job so enjoyable and so easy! Your love and joy for each other shines through SO much and this just makes me even more excited for your wedding day. I’m honored to be the one to document your story.  I can’t wait to see you again next year for your special day. I know you two are made for each other and I can’t wait to see what your next adventure holds. OH- And thanks a bunch for the pizza – best mini personal pizza I think I’ve ever had 😉 <3
