Kiren & Micah celebrated their wedding at Red Maple Vineyard on June 9th, 2018 and let me just say, it was absolutely perfect from beginning to end!!
The day started with Kiren getting ready at an Airbnb in New Paltz called the Stone House. It was the sweetest cottage with so much charm and beauty! Her mom and bridesmaids joined her here to get ready and begin the day of celebrating.
I shot all the details at the house and I was in complete AWE of how everything came together so seamlessly. Once the florist arrived with the bouquet and I placed it next to their invitation suite, I was so inspired! Such a perfect combination. Both were BEAUTIFUL – the flowers by Florals by Confetti and the invitations by Minted.
Everything went perfectly in the morning and Kiren couldn’t have been surrounded by a better group of women. When she was putting her dress on with her mom, I started to feel like we were just doing things a little too fast. So, I asked everyone in the room to pause and soak in the special moment. Then, I asked everyone to leave the room except Kiren and her mom so we could let them have a quiet moment together while she put on her dress. I think this was one of my favorite moments of the wedding day. It was so special. Everyone else watched through the doorway from the other room while Kiren and her mom cried together as they let the whole moment sink in.
Wedding days go so fast, and I was determined to let these important moments sink in on their wedding day.
Meanwhile, the guys were also getting ready at an Airbnb with my amazing second shooter, Tori. When their incredible cinematographer, Greg from Willow Tree Films , showed up at the girls Airbnb, he said “Micah’s letter to her was amazing. He’s such a good writer and speaker. This is going to be such a good day.” And I couldn’t have agreed more. And, Kiren’s letter that she wrote to Micah was just as good! As I heard her read it aloud I started crying my eyes out! Typical me.
Once everyone was ready to go, we all headed over to Red Maple Vineyard for Kiren and Micah’s emotional first look in the garden.
We brought Micah into the garden inside the vineyard and had Kiren walk down the vines to him. All of this was such a whirlwind of emotion. They cried and exchanged gifts to each other. Micah gave Kiren a beautiful pearl necklace for her to wear on the wedding day and Kiren gave Micah Hamilton Tickets!!
After their first look, we did bride and groom portraits in the garden. They danced through the vineyards and strolled through the gardens. I literally couldn’t imagine a more perfect spot.
From there we changed locations for family formals and wedding party, and I just LOVE the stone wall backdrop for these images!!!
They are truly surrounded by such wonderful friends and family.
When we were all wrapped up with the formal portraits, it was time for them to hide and unwind a bit in the bridal suite before the ceremony!
The ceremony was on the hilltop overlooking the Hudson Valley with the rolling hills and river in the background. I couldn’t imagine anything more beautiful!! Of course, the ceremony brought me to tears (again). It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies imaginable and so unique to Kiren and Micah.
As a sign of bringing together their races and cultures into one united family, each of their immediate family members placed a thread on their clasped hands. Once every family member had placed the string, the officiant tied them all in a knot to symbolize their strong bond, and most of all, unity between their families and friends as they were brought together.
Kiren and Micah both read their own vows to each other. This is when I started sobbing. Kiren promised to love Micah boldly, fiercely, and always push him to chase his dreams. Micah talked about how he will always be truthful and honest with her and started by truthfully telling her how amazing and beautiful he thinks she is. Being that they’re both pastors, they are both incredible speakers. So, add that to the beautifully written words and I’m clearly going to be crying a lot. It was magical.
After the ceremony, we let everyone head down to cocktail hour while I stole Kiren and Micah for some JUST MARRIED portraits!!!! We took BEAUTIFUL portraits of these two up on the hilltop overlooking Hudson Valley and I couldn’t imagine anything more beautiful or more radiant than these two in love.
These are some of my favorite portraits to date and I’m thrilled we had absolutely amazing weather to capture these special moments.
After we wrapped up portraits, they both joined the cocktail hour while we photographed the reception details. Lucky for me, one of the sweet bridesmaids and my past bride saved me a biscuit with lavender ricotta cheese and honey. Trust me, it was as good as it sounds.
The guests enjoyed an indoor-outdoor cocktail hour, roaming freely through the grounds and the gardens. Red Maple Vineyard is one of the most beautiful venues I have ever been to. They take such good care of their guests and the food is exceptional. It is all mostly farm to table form the surrounding area!
The reception was just as amazing and personal as everything else. Kiren’s Aunt gave a blessing in their language, the toasts were exceptional from Kristen, Kiren’s sister, and Micah’s Best Man, as well as Kiren’s dad. I was a puddle of tears the whole time!
Their band, LaBlanc Brothers, had the dance floor packed all night and was so much fun to work with! When the reception came to a close, we all went outside for the after party which entailed s’mores around the firepit, chicken fingers, guacamole, and yummy late night snacks.
I couldn’t be more honored to have been Kiren and Micah’s photographer. These two have the biggest hearts of anyone you’ll meet and it was a JOY to get to see all the people they love in one place celebrating their love.
I also had the honor of photographing not 1, but 4 engagement sessions of these two (1 in every season) which you can see here:
- Kiren and Micah’s Winter Engagement Session in Vernon, NJ
- Kiren and Micah’s Spring Engagement Session at Willowwood Arboretum
- Kiren and Micah’s Summer Engagement Session at Red Maple Vineyard
